The Twin Roads

Art by Camille Pissaro, 1872

Whether to walk on the short road or long
Both to each other are twin
Neither one to the other is wrong
When each is the start and the end
And when a storm is heightened and strong
On your joys or your heartfelt grin
Let it sink in and carry on
And lose no grip of your hand in hand
It is wisest to endorse oneself as brave
Than to think it is the other’s task to save
